Gandmool Shanti Puja Ritual Process

1. Sankalp (Sacred Resolution)

The parents or devotee make a formal vow, expressing their intention to perform the puja for the well-being of the individual.

2. Ganesh Puja

Lord Ganesha is worshipped first to remove obstacles and ensure the successful completion of the ritual.

3. Navagraha Puja

Prayers are offered to the Nine Planetary Deities (Navagrahas) to seek their blessings and minimize adverse planetary influences.

4. Nakshatra Puja

Special prayers and offerings are made to the deity ruling the individual’s birth Nakshatra.

5. Mantra Chanting

Vedic mantras dedicated to the birth Nakshatra are chanted, often ranging from 11,000 to 27,000 recitations, depending on the tradition followed.

6. Havan (Homam)

A sacred fire ritual is performed by offering ghee, herbs, and other sacred materials into the fire while chanting Vedic mantras to purify the surroundings and invoke divine blessings.

7. Daan (Charity)

The ceremony concludes with donations of food, clothing, grains, money, or other essential items to Brahmins or those in need, symbolizing gratitude and spiritual merit.


When Should Gandmool Shanti Puja Be Performed?

The most auspicious time to perform this puja is:

  • On the 27th day after the child’s birth, when the Moon returns to the birth Nakshatra.
  • If the 27th day is missed, the puja can be performed:
    • On the child’s birthday.
    • On any future date when the birth Nakshatra is active, as per the Panchang.
    • On an auspicious Muhurat recommended by a qualified Vedic astrologer.
